Welcome
                                    to

Mrs.Martin's 2nd Grade Class!

Dear Parents & Students,

We hope that everyone is doing well and staying safe. Given the ongoing school closure, we are temporarily transitioning to an online optional learning system. We first want to let you know that if you need anything in the next month while we are out, please feel free to message me on Class Dojo or email me at Martinbs@pwcs.edu. I believe you can also contact me through the HUB. We are still here for all of you to provide any information you may need to assist your child with at home learning.

We want to share this PWCS link with you all, http://www.pwcs.edu/news/what_s_new/to-go_meals_available_free_during_closure. During this time
you can go to these locations listed by the county to receive togo meals while school is closed. They are providing breakfast and lunches, Monday-Friday 9-10 a.m. the locations are provided on the link added above.

Don't forget to follow our school's Facebook and Twitter page to stay connected!

Sincerely,

2nd Grade Team

We have had a wonderful first quarter of school.  We had our first field trip of the year.  Students enjoyed visiting Shoppers and had the opportunity to visit the deli, seafood market and decorate a cupcake while in the bakery.  We've been learning about Famous Americans, adaptations, habitats and economics.  In reading, students have learned to make connections to the story, story elements and the value of making predictions about the story.  In writing, students are practicing narrative writing.  In math, students have learned addition and subtraction strategies to 20, even and odd numbers, place value and how to solve word problems.  We are looking forward to a wonderful second quarter full of learning and fun!

Dear Parents and Students,
I am looking forward to a fun and fabulous year with you all! My name is Beth Martin and I have been a teacher for nineteen years, twelve of them here at Swan's Creek Elementary. I am sure that this will be a wonderful and productive year!

Summer Message

Dear Parents and Students,
I can't believe this year has come to an end.  As I look back over all the experiences we have had together this year, I am amazed by how much each student has grown academically, socially and physically.  I throughly enjoyed our time together and hope to have kindled a passion for learning in each one of them.  Summer is a wonderful time to explore, learn and create outside and to cultivate the natural wonder in each child.  Please help them by taking advantage of this opportunity.    Learning should not stop because school is out for the summer.  Whatever your child's passion is, summer can be a wonderful time to learn more about it and the local library is an excellent resource.  Enjoy the summer and I look forward to seeing you when school starts again.
